A tropical ocean but 500 miles away from Germany

The adriatic sea is turning tropical. So no need to fly far anymore if you like warm oceans. But both for fisherman, local flora and fauna that is a huge problem. It’s actually not news, but the Guardian has a very good article on the topic, so it’s reaching main stream news.

It sounds worse in Germany’s ZEIT magazine, who titles with “The beautiful Adriatic sea, full of slime”, but that is realistic – as many photos show. And the picture of the slimy sea at Ancona from the Swiss Tagesanzeiger doesn’t really trigger vacation or holiday reflexes:

For English speakers, EuroNews has a video of the disgusting slime preventing swimming or family fun at Italy’s and Croatia’s beaches. It is sad, but that will be our future, I guess.

“This past Monday was the hottest day recorded on earth. This same pattern is noticeable with sea temperatures along the Adriatic coast, which reached record-breaking highs. Last week, the highest sea temperature in Croatia since the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) began taking measurements was recorded in Dubrovnik.” (Euronews)
